A patient of mine recommended this non-profit group that offers a continuing adult education program where the courses are presented by the members. It is modeled after a similar program at Dartmouth College.

Hearing Aid Lost and Found
Lately I’ve had a few patients lose their hearing aids. Luckily, they ended up finding them.
Hearing aids typically have a 1-3 year loss and accidental damage warranty.
These days you can get hearing aids that link to your phone and that can be found by GPS. The phone app shows a map of where the aid is, and when you go to the location it shows you when you’re getting closer and farther away.
If you ever find a lost hearing aid, you can easily find its owner. Every hearing aid has a serial number and an audiologist can call the manufacturer to find out whose it is and where it was purchased. I’ve had patients receive a package in the mail from some kind soul who found their lost hearing aid.
Closed Captions
I had never seen closed captioning in progress before seeing this video. Trinesha Jones is awesome. Everyone knows about captions on movies and TV, but there are also captions for phones. Amplified and captioning phones are provided free for the hearing impaired. They’re paid for by a tax we all pay on our monthly phone bills. If you’re having trouble on the phone, let me know. All we need to do is send in the application with my signature to one of the providers.
Hearing Loss Association of America
The Hearing Loss Association of America has a local chapter. They meet regularly and are a fantastic resource. They’re also a gracious and welcoming bunch of people. You can find them at:
